Land Fill Odor Study

Deffenbaugh Industries, a subsidiary of Waste Management, has a Special Use Permit to operate a landfill in the City of Shawnee.
In June 2016, the City Council voted to table consideration of the extension for the Special Use Permit for the landfill so that an odor study could be completed.

Blackstone Environmental, Inc. presented the results of the first phase of the study and next steps to be taken at the City Council meeting on Monday, September 26.
The City Council at the Monday, September 26 meeting received the preliminary report and voted to extend the Special Use Permit for 12 months pending receipt of the next phase of the odor study.
